In this post I would like to address two questions about Home Music Studio 1. First, is this blog for you? Second, why would I want to help someone like you? As this is a new site I thought it would help us get to know each other a little bit better by discussing the answers these simple questions.
Is Home Music Studio 1 for You?
The best way for me to answer this question might be to first talk about who I am not trying to reach with this blog.
This blog is not for the person who loves to jump from message board to message board posting comments that are not very respectful to others. Maybe you know him or her? They always seemed to be the one pointing out "obvious" errors in someone else's recording experience or tip. They always seem to know just exactly how things work and should be done, yet the results of their own projects prove otherwise.
This blog is not for the person who constantly posts pictures of their, so called "home music studio" showing the hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment they have acquired. Equipment that is on display in a room that looks far more like a multi-million dollar Nashville studio than it does a working man's basement.
This blog is not for the person who feels they have learned everything there is to learn about the home music studio. This is the person who understands one specific way of recording and obviously that one way must be the only way to achieve professional results. They are not willing to experiment with new ideas and technologies, nor are they willing to learn.
Home Music Studio 1 is for the person who is seeking to learn how to create the best quality projects possible, regardless of their size budget.
This blog is for the person who loves the journey of sharing past mistakes as well as discovering new solutions to the problems that are unique only to home studio recording. This blog is for the person who plays nice with others and has a desire to join a community of like minded people with the same attitude. If any of these statement hit home in your life, then this blog is for you!
Why would I want to help someone like you?
Well to put it simple, I may be one step ahead in experience, but truly I'm just like you. Regardless of our environments we both share a love for our trade and enjoy learning new ways to perfect it. Like you, I'm not a millionaire with an endless budget and hundreds of thousands of dollars in recording equipment. I have a few pieces of gear that have taken me time to acquire and I am building upon those with the experience I've gained over the years.
I want to help someone like you because I know what it's like hear something you want to do in a project, yet have no idea how to technically produce it. I've been there, and you can learn from my experience while together we learn from each other.
A great place to get started immediately is to sign up for my weekly newsletter. To help you begin learning you will receive a FREE copy of my short ebook entitled "Understanding Compression in the Home Music Studio".
I would love to hear your thoughts and answer any questions you may have. Please add either correspondence to the comments section below.
