You've begun the journey of recording kick drum. Now that it's tracked your ready to start mixing. How do you get that perfect, in your face, kick drum sound? In this episode of the show, I'll walk you through the process I follow using the 4-3 framework.
Thanks,
your advice is top notch, through all the you tube videos yours is by far the best and most indepth. Thanks again for all the help.
Your welcome Mike, more to come in the new year, have a great week!

Thanks ;), ill be posting more soon. My family and I just moved into a new house so that’s why I’ve not had new content up in a few weeks. I don’t even have my system unpacked yet. Plus my new space needs some work but ill be posting all about it soon.
How do I d/l this free master fader ?
You can find the download link directly from the site here http://www.sonalksis.com/freeg.htm
Thanks for tips. Just wondering, why use the sub-synth tone instead of boosting more of the 60hz with an EQ?
Also, around 15:00 you say the compressor release time is 0.5 ms. That seems too fast (unless the goal is to reduce only the transient of the hits). Did you mean “seconds” instead of “ms”?
Certainly this wouldn’t be the only way to get a great kick sound for sure. That said, by adding the sub-synth from an additional track your also adding a parallel track and getting another benefit similar to parallel compression (not sure if I’ve talked about that outside the Dynamic Range Compression Course yet or not). Also by adding the sub, I’m keeping more of the natural kick sound without having to push the 60Hz as much. This same technique can work well by taking the original kick and boosting the 60Hz as well, or even a total different kick sample all together. I was in the mood for the synth and like the warmth it added ;). On the compression, ya, I did mean .5 seconds ;).
Hi Dave, I see the podcast link, but it just disappears when I click it. Any ideas?
Hmm, what web browser are you trying to play this in Dan?
Try refreshing and pressing play again, I think I may have fixed the issue Dan. There was an update and the player went back to the default settings. Thanks a ton for lettin me know though.
It’s working now. :D
